Cardinal Adam Joseph Maida, Archbishop of Detroit, was born on 18 March 1930 in East Vandergrift, Pennsylvania. He was the first of three sons born to Adam Maida and Sophia Cieslak Maida.Created and proclaimed Cardinal by John Paul II in the consistory of 26 November 1994. Titular church, Sts. Vitalis, Valeris, Gervase and Protase.
